Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop better football players through focused practice, consistent repetition, and a clear translation of skills to tackle football. Too many families have been taken advantage of, and my goal is to show how a team should be run.

Schedule

Tuesday practices, tournaments in January and February, and Fridays off. We will take the 23rd and 30th of December for winter break, then resume practices every Tuesday. The season wraps up by March 1st. This is intentional so kids can join their future high school’s 4-Vert team — it’s a great way to introduce them to high school coaches.

Football recruiting happens through your high school team, so don’t fall for 7-on-7 programs that claim to offer recruiting and scholarship opportunities. We will not leave Orange County for tournaments — there’s no reason a travel team should force you to go to Vegas or Arizona when there are plenty of great local events.

Commitment & Rosters

This team will have an open roster until December 15th (the day before our third practice). Teams will consist of 2 QBs & 12 Skilled Players. Commitment and Dues will be due on 12/16.

Please don’t let a 7-on-7 team pressure you into committing right away. Some may threaten that your son will lose his spot; I guarantee he won’t. There are plenty of teams out there, and I encourage you to try out for several to find the best fit.

I will send a text on Saturday morning inviting those back for part two of tryouts on 12/9.

Organization

I will have a Google Calendar with dates, times, and locations for every practice and tournament. No last-minute surprises — everything will be communicated ahead of time. It’s driving me crazy that I don’t have tournament dates yet, as I’m waiting to see how many teams I’ll have. They will be updated before the New Year.

I may also schedule some scrimmages in December or early January to get some competition in.

Cost

$550 per player. My goal is to keep it as affordable as possible. This cost includes everything — uniforms, practice, and tournament fees. They will be due on the third practice (12/16).

A QC Select Store will be available for families who’d like to purchase extra gear, but that’s completely optional. 7-on-7 Teams should never make you buy swag.

Staff

  • Coach Quinn (QBs): Quarterback at Fullerton College and Morehead State

  • Coach Jones (DBs): Safety at Fullerton College and Idaho State

  • Coach Eddie (WRs): Receiver at Camino College and SMU

  • Coach Monarres (LB/RB): Whittier Christian and 4 Year Varsity Coach

Practices

Practice times will be every Tuesday (except 12/23 & 12/30):

  • 11/12U: 5:45–7:00 PM

  • 13/14U: 6:45–8:00 PM

  • High School: 7:45–9:00 PM

I learned in college how an efficient practice should run — we practiced for just 90 minutes, went 10–0, and averaged 38 points per game. Our practices will last 1 hour and 15 minutes, and they will be scripted to the minute.

Opportunity

I’ve been training kids for three years and believe everyone can get better — everyone deserves that opportunity. Some will be invited back to train in practice, but not travel to tournaments.

Be cautious of programs that promise starting spots to take your money. I have contacts who can share their experiences with dishonest programs. QC Select is about improvement and honesty

Mentorship

You’re signing up for a team and mentors who will do everything in our power to help your kid succeed. My coaches and I will be there to answer any football-related and recruiting questions you have. I will have a couple of Zoom meetings throughout the season.

Culture Shift

It’s not about uniforms, swag, or fake recruiting promises — it’s about sharpening your craft for the fall.

This is not a “win at all costs” program, but it’s also not a “just have fun” team either. If we practice hard and execute, we’ll win plenty of games.

I will not bring in kids last-minute for tournaments and play them over those who’ve been at practice every week. This is my first season, but I know what a good program looks like — and I hope you’ll be part of Team 1 at QC Select!

Contact

Please feel free to reach out with any questions about 7-on-7 — whether it’s about my team or others. I’ll always be honest and happy to talk football.

Thanks for coming tonight — hope you stick around!
